Upon your arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, you will be greeted by our representative and then transferred to your hotel in a private vehicle. After checking in, you can relax in your room or explore the surroundings. Kathmandu is a vibrant city with rich culture and history, where you can prepare for the upcoming adventure. After some exploration, in the evening we will have a pre-tark briefing about the journey ahead and an introduction with your trek crew. After a delicious breakfast, we will begin our full day of sightseeing in Kathmandu. We will explore the cultural, and historical sites and learn about the ethnic values of the people living in Kathmandu. The sightseeing offers an exploration of UNESCO World Heritage Sites like Swayambhu Nath (Monkey Temple), Boudhanath Stupa, and Pashupatinath Temple. The closer one gets to Khorla Besi, the more differences in vegetation and climatic change signal a return to a warm environment. Tsum Valley with Ganesh Himal Base Camp Trek Permits

The critical permits for the Tsum Valley with Ganesh Himal Base Camp Trek are such documents that have important relevance in order to gain access to restricted areas and ensure a safe journey through the Manaslu Conservation Area. The main permits, which are so important and required for nature and cultural heritage protection, include the Tsum Valley Restricted Area Permit, Manaslu Conservation Area Permit, and the TIMS Card.

Tsum Valley Restricted Area Permit (Tsum Valley RAP)

It requires the Tsum Valley Restricted Area Permit to make a trek in the Tsum Valley, which is actually a restricted area for its cultural sensitivity of the area and the closeness it stands to the border with Tibet. It allows for only accompanied licensed guides and a local company for the trek, therefore making sure that the valley and its communities maintain their integrity. This permit is needed to enter the restricted zone between Jagat and Tsum Valley.

  • From September to November: Fee is 40 USD per trekker for a week and an additional 7 USD per day for the extra days.
  • From December to August: Fee is USD 30 per person for the first week, beyond an additional 7 USD per day.

Hence, a permit will only be issued to trekkers who are trekking in an organized group or taking a guided trek. We will assist you in obtaining this permit, making sure all the paperwork works ready to secure your entry to Tsum Valley.

Manaslu Conservation Area Permit (MCAP)

The MCAP is required for any trekking within the Manaslu Conservation Area, which comprises much of the Tsum Valley and the trail to Ganesh Himal Base Camp. However, a permit like this was issued with the goal of guarding the rich biodiversity of the area, including such rare species as snow leopards, blue sheep, and Himalayan tahr. It also covers varieties of flora that include rhododendron forests, alpine meadows, and dense pine forests. The MCAP fee is NPR 3,000 (approx. USD 26) per trekker, which has been used for financing the conservation program and supporting the local communities within the area.

The fee remains the same throughout the year without partiality during the trekking season. Trekkers are able to obtain an MCAP from the immigration offices in Kathmandu. Normally, the permit is taken out together with that of the Tsum Valley Restricted Area Permit. Original passport, passport-size photo, and visa details are required for the purpose of obtaining an MCAP. TIMS Card

The TIMS Card is a mandatory trekking permit for all trekkers in Nepal, aiming at monitoring the movement of trekkers for safety. The TIMS card plays an important role in emergency responses and is also of great importance in monitoring trekking activities by authorities. Especially in remote areas like the Tsum Valley and Ganesh Himal Base Camp. The TIMS card is compulsory for all trekkers, whether independent or with a guide, and basically is a record of trekkers that can be helpful in case of some emergency. Therefore, the TIMS Card costs NPR 2000 (approx. USD 16) per trekker. The card is issued by the Tourism Board in Kathmandu and/or through a licensed trekking agency.
