Overview of Panch Pokhari Trek

Panch Pokhari is a beautiful, holy place in the Sindhupalchok district of Nepal, which offers the rare combination of pristine Himalayan adventure and spiritual significance. Special in Janai Purnima: during the summer, in the month of July or August, there will be a sacred festival. The sacred lake Panch Pokhari has a belief that God Mahadev stayed and harvested the paddy near the Panch Pokhari lake. Once upon a time, around 2,325 years ago, one of the renowned hunters from the Bhotang village named Bumba Ruwa Waiba went to hunt. Suddenly he saw someone cultivating paddy near the giant Panch Pokhari lake; he tried to meet them, but these people disappeared from the farm. So, Mr. Bumba Ruwa Waiba believes that there is a god, which is the goddess Mahadev, and Dev Garn (divine forces) disappear because of human activities.

Then the hunter, Mr.Bumba Ruwa Waiba, removed his hunter dog’s bell and kept it in the plane, where he found farming the paddy by God Shiva and built a small temple. Later, he built a Shiva Mahadev temple, which is known as a Hindu and Buddhist temple. You can find the prayer flags at the sacred Buddhist pilgrimage spot. Moreover, there will be 5 giant sacred lakes, which are called Panch Pokhari. There will be a viewpoint at about 4,300 meters; you will have amazing panoramic views of Panch Pokhari and the surrounding peaks. Day 01

Arrival in Kathmandu (1,400 m.)

Trekkers will be arriving at Kathmandu airport, and we will pick you up from the airport and take you to the hotel. You will have to check in the room and rest sometime while having tea or coffee. Explore around the local market and prepare the trekking gear and bag packing. We will have a team meeting and a trip briefing. You will have your evening dinner at a local restaurant and spend the night at the hotel.

Day 02

Kathmandu to Chhimti (1,900 m.) Drive and trek to Ratmata (2,850 m.)

After breakfast, you will drive to Chhimti via Melamchi, which will take around 4 to 5 hours. You will pass by Melamchi Bazaar, a beautiful village, and lush forests with beautiful landscapes. Crossing the Melamchi river and following the Indrawoti riverbank takes you to the Thangpal village and reaches the Chhimti. Travelers will pass by the beautiful, terraced rice fields, several streams, a traditional village, and ancient monasteries. From Chhimti, you will start to trek to Tuppi Danda and Ratmata. Trekkers will pass by the lush mountain, Deurali village, several streams, and a suspension bridge. After 4 to 5 hours of trekking, you will reach the Ratmata. If you get tired early, you can stay at Tuppi Danda, which is before the Ratmata village. Once you reach the Ratmata teahouse, have a rest sometime and explore the beautiful surroundings. You will have your evening dinner and overnight rest in the teahouse.

Day 03

Ratmata to Panch Pokhari (4,115 m.)

Wake up early in the morning, get refreshed, have tea or coffee, and get ready for trekking. There will be an option for breakfast in Upper Ratmata or Chhokar Danda after hiking for some time. During today’s trek, you will pass by beautiful yak pasture, alpine grassland, alpine forest, and rhododendron forest. Trekkers will have amazing views of the Jugal Himal and Dorje Lakpa ranges. Moreover, you will have chances to explore the Himalayan Thar, bears, and different kinds of bird species. You can also explore the varieties of beautiful flowers blooming, which makes the surroundings colorful. Ratmata to Panch Pokhari will take around 4 to 6 hours to trek. Once you reach Panch Pokhari, explore the beautiful surroundings. If the weather is clear, we will hike to the viewpoint and explore the panoramic views. Hiking from Panch Pokhari to the viewpoint (4,300 m.) will take 30 to 40 minutes.

Day 04

Explore Panch Pokhari and trek back to Ratmata (2,850 m.)

Wake up early in the morning and explore the beautiful surroundings. You will do hiking to the Panch Pokhari viewpoint (4,300 m.), which will take one to one and a half hours for return trips. You will do the worship in the Mahadev temple in Panch Pokhari. There is a belief that if you see the paddy crops and white ducks, you will have great luck and chances to earn wealth. Take a beautiful picture and explore the amazing surroundings of the Jugal Himal and Dorje Lakpa ranges, then get back to the teahouse and have your morning breakfast. After resting for some time, you will get ready to trek to Ratmata Danda. The trek to Ratmata from Panch Pokhari will take 4 to 5 hours, where you will be staying overnight.

Day 05

Ratmata to Chhimti (1,900 m.) via Tuppi Danda (2,250 m.) and drive to Kathmandu

Today you will trek to Chhimti from Ratmata early in the morning. We will have breakfast in Tuppi Danda on the way to Chhimti. You will pass by beautiful villages, lush forests, and terraced fields. Beautiful towering mountains and waterfalls will be the beautiful surroundings. Crossing a number of streams and suspension bridges will take you to the Chhimti. After about 3 to 4 hours of trekking, you will reach Chhimti from Ratmata. Around lunchtime, we will reach Chhimti, and we will have lunch there. Travelers will be heading to Kathmandu by car from Chhimti. The road distance to Kathmandu from Chhimti is about 90 kilometers, and it will take approximately 4 to 5 hours to drive. Passing by terrace rice fields, villages, the Indrawoti River, and the Melamchi River takes you to the Melamchi Bazaar. From Melamchi, in about 2 hours, we will reach Kathmandu.

Once you arrive in Kathmandu, you will be transferred to the hotel. You will be resting in a comfortable hotel room. In the evening, have your dinner in the local restaurant and overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 06

Kathmandu City Sightseen Tour (1,400 m.)

After breakfast, we will be doing a Kathmandu city sightseeing tour. A Touch Planet Treks representative will be there at the hotel with a comfortable private vehicle. We will start the Kathmandu city tour from Boudha Nath. You will be visiting the beautiful Boudha Nath stupa, which is an ancient world heritage Buddhist site. Then we will be moving to the Hindu’s holiest site, Pashupatinath Temple. Explore around the beautiful world heritage site, Pashupatinath Temple, and we will be driving to the Patan Durbar Square. Travelers will be exploring the beautiful surroundings. The Krishna temple, the golden temple, the ancient museum, and the beautiful artwork will give you amazing moments. Then we will go for lunch, and we will be moving to the Swayambhu Nath stupa. Explore the beautiful world heritage site; you can have panoramic views of Kathmandu Valley.
